Puff sleeves: why do we love it?

Straight out of 80s fashion, puffy sleeves and other XXL shoulder pads have invaded the catwalks of the last fashion shows. This play of volume, deliciously disproportionate, advantageously structure the silhouette, visually slimming everything below the shoulders, especially the waist. Style-wise, ultra-voluminous sleeves add a couture touch to the simplest outfits and can be adapted to sophisticated evening looks as well as casual-chic daytime outfits.

We’re not going to lie to each other, not everyone can afford the ultra-bulky sleeve.

This is a trend to avoid for anyone with broad shoulders, V-shaped body types in particular, who will look best with gathered sleeves or small ruffles. The ultra-voluminous sleeves, on the other hand, are perfect for an A-shaped morphology since they will rebalance the silhouette, and will also work very well on an 8 or an H. Day look with voluminous sleeves

For a casual-chic daytime outfit, we prefer wear puff sleeves over a pretty white blouse, romantic style, with boyfriend jeans or paper bag pants for example. Put on pretty python pumps or trendy sneakers to complete your look. Another option, opt for a little black dress with puff sleeves in organza, slightly transparent. This option is more dressy, but if you wear sneakers with it and opt for a natural beauty look, you’ll be on top for the day.

Sophisticated look with puff sleeves

For the evening, we play the puff sleeve to the fullest and we opt for a maxi volume. We like a lot mini dresses with ultra voluminous sleeves that refine the legs, in shiny velvet for the winter and flowery for the summer, or even a long dress with an asymmetrical one-shoulder cutout for going out in a club. It’s a very sophisticated and terribly glamorous option, we love it!
